The Man Booker Prize 2008
 The
judges for the 2008 Man Booker Prize for Fiction have announced the
shortlist for this year's prize. The longlist of 13 books often referred
to as the 'Man Booker Dozen' was chosen from 112 entries; 103 were
submitted for the prize and nine were called in by the judges.
The
shortlist was announced on Tuesday 9th September at a press conference at
Man Group's London office. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 14th
October at an awards ceremony at Guildhall, London. To view the

Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy Novel
Seven years after the death
of Hitchhiker author Douglas Adams a new book in the series is due to be
written by favourite children's author Eoin Colfer.

Authors Come to Volumes
September saw a couple of local authors
come into Volumes to promote their books. The first was Hannah
Hartley with her book Wrights & Wrongs.
The second was William
Bloxham with his book The Long Haul.
Both books are still
available from Volumes

Books for Hospitals
Simon's latest
unashamed publicity knows no ends and he appeared recently in the Romsey
Advertiser as part of the Books for Hospitals appeal we held in May.
A big thank you goes to all our customers who bought a book for the
hospital patients and staff were both delighted with the final amount.
